Here we go gang. Lets start with Character Creation:
20pt Buy
1st level
No Free bonus feat per the Players Guide (You may select from these feats with your normal slots if you would like)
Choose 2 character traits instead
Starting HP is equal to Max HD + Con + 4 free hp
I would prefer sticking to the main classes.
I am open to alternate races if it can be done easily while keeping the balance of the game and can be explained with a good role-play reason.
If you are very familiar with the AP I suggest making a character who is from Sand Point and perhaps knows one/some of the AP's major NPC's well. Otherwise you just need a good reason to be in the town for the Swallow Tail Festival. I will assume that everyone is familiar with the Players Guide.
Any Questions??

This is just one idea of mine. It may not work out if others wish to play an arcane character. But I'll throw her in the mix to see what you all think.
I haven't started to build this yet. I have this idea of a sweet young woman. She's a prim and proper governess for an old and respected family. She has impeccable manners, she loves to sing lullabies and is devoted to the young tykes in her charge. Sadly, she is compelled to a life of adventure and exile due to recent "changes" in her life. An embarassing arcane taint becomes manifest inside her:

Interesting, are you thinking of making an Orc or a Half-Orc, or are you planing on making a sorcerer with a boodline (which one)or some combo of both?

In regards to mine, I was actually leaning towards probably making a half-orc cleric of Erastil or thug (rogue w/ a little fighter).
I was trying to think of a background for a priest of Desna or Iomedae that I could do, but nothing struck my fancy so far.
If someone else wanted to do those roles, I can come up with a frontline type or something too.

Here is Wren with just about everything completed, ready for perusal.
Looks good. How long has Wren been in Sandpoint? For example: Is she here with a group of Varisian entertainers just arrived for the festival? Has she been here a few weeks trying to get an audition at the theater?

I was thinking that the character would be the farthest thing from an orc. Certainly not a half-orc. An innocent young maiden - maybe a halfling girl - but when she expresses herself through her unusual and unexpected sorcerous, orcish bloodline....well...that would be the fun part.
I was also thinking of making her a rigid, old-fashioned governess - a decent and upright woman - who is disgraced and loses her job because she has started to frighten the children.
I found the Orc bloodline on the PFSRD site in the Sorcerer/Bloodlines section. It comes from the Orcs of Golarion supplement...so maybe it doesn't fit your request for core material.

Oh, now that sound very cool. Since I found link that would be fine.

The priest of Erastil (or possibly Gozreh) I was invisioning would be a young loner, who has a small hut near the farming community outside of Sandpoint. He was abandoned at the church in Sandpoint, and cared for by the locals, until he started showing more and more of his non-human side and started to frighten the other children. After that, he was not so much exiled from town as excluded from its events and working. He spent the next several years earning back the trust of those townsfolk who could be considered open minded, by hunting game and selling it below market, working the fields for minimal pay (if any) for farmers who needed help with their crops. Some still think of him as nothing more than a beast, but most of the more rural families are well known to him and he to them.
Overall, it'd be a very woodsy/outdoorsy type cleric who is ill fitting to town.
The rogueish thug I was thinking of would have spent time as a bouncer at the Scarnetti bar in town, and still breaks some knees in town when the pay is right. However, most of his 'clientele' for such services are sailors and deadbeats. The well to do, and normal locals, know better than to get into debt with one as greasy as Scarnetti is rumored to be.

Either one would be cool, You could even make the cleric concept into a druid if you wanted. The bouncer at the Fat mans Feedbag would be cool, could make for some very interesting role-play for a character to have "mob" ties. There is a least one Half-orc in town, Gorvi the street sweeper, so the citizens tolerate the breed but with some apprehension.
As for a Desna priest, a favored student of Father Zantus might make for an interesting character too. Just an idea.

Had a thought as to why the Governess is in town. She could be seeking work at the Turandorak Academy.
Wren Chavali |
I like the idea that Wren has traveled to Sandpoint with a troupe for the festival. I'll make some changes to the backstory.
Mythril DM |
Please do NOT feel obligated to play a certain type of character to fill a party slot. There are plenty of NPC's roaming around Sandpoint and my head to fill any spot the party needs. Play the characters you WANT to role-play. I am already starting to prepare for the opening post, looking forward to seeing what group of personalities you all come up with.
Mythril DM |
I'm thinking an albino half-orc fighter with an Earthbreaker, former intimidating brute, kind soul deep deep inside. I'll work on it during the weekend.
That's a neat idea, are you planing on coming from one the the tribes on the Storval Plain or from someplace more (or less) civilized?
Mythril DM |
The more I think about it, I think I'll go with the cleric of Erastil (Animal/Plant domains). I'll write it up this weekend, as I am running to a PFS game shortly.
That sounds good, you could be at the festival as a guest of Father Zantus. With the time line if you were raised by the church, you would have been adopted by Father Tobyn and his adopted daughter (also left at the church), Nualia, would be your "sister." DM LIKEY.

I am thinking about an itinerate elf who wandered into town a couple seasons ago with a Varisian caravan. He doesn't really have a job. He works for a variety of employers in a range of roles. When the alchemist is particular busy, he hires on for a week or two. Same with a locksmith, a tavern owner, a scribe, etc. He is soft spoken and likeable, and can be quite intent and focused, but just as easily distracted. He is rather fastidious and well dressed. He is an reader, borrowing books as often as possible and while he likes to travel light, he tends to collect odd things like a pet monkey and Varisian scarves.
Mechanically he would be a rogue, at least at first level. He would probably branch out to wizard and ranger depending on the course of the story.
Brock AKA "Bones" |
Ok, MD, here is what I have as a history. Feel free to make any changes, as you see fit. This is Lucendar.
The half-orc known as Brock has not had a nice life. His mother, the victim of a rape, died at childbirth. Strike One! Then, on top of his hated heritage, he was born an albino and raised in the local orphanage in Sandpoint. Strike Two! Though he was given the name of Brock by the head of the orphanage, the kids in town teased him mercilessly, calling him "Bones". Only one person treated Brock well: Father Tobyn, who had a knack for caring even for the outcasts of society. In him, Brock found his only friend and life was good for a little while, where he learned moral principles. Then, five years ago, fate intervened and a fire struck the church, killing Father Tobyn. Strike Three! Disillusioned with life, Brock left Sandpoint and went to Magnimar, wherein his size and might became a useful tool and he fell into a life of crime. He happily accepted the moniker of "Bones" where it fit his life as an enforcer. However, after years of this type of work, Bones did not feel satisfied. He felt he was dishonoring Father Tobyn's principles and he quit his previous life. The fact that the crime boss for which he worked was brutally murdered/apprehended by authorities/now hunting him (up to DM) coincided with his decision to leave. He heard about the dedication of the new temple in Sandpoint and he has returned to town for the first time in 5 years to honor the memory of his only friend.

Very cool. What is your relationship with Nualia, Father Tobyn's adopted daughter who died in the same fire? How is your relationship to Tsuto Kiajitsu the half-elf bastard son of one of the wealthy town families and his sister Amekio (human). Tsuto was raised at the orphanage and his sister would visit him from time to time. Would you like to know the status of your former crime boss or would you like it to be a surprise?

I am preparing the character and shoud have something by the end of the weekend. I would like to know more about the Turandok Academy though. I couldn't find much in the Player Guide.
Turandarok Academy
As families thronged to Sandpoint, the town founders quickly came to realize that they needed somewhere to handle the education of children, a place to house unfortunate orphans, and somewhere to busy older children to keep them from becoming delinquents. The answer was the Turandarok Academy. Part school, part orphanage, retired adventurer Ilsoari Gandethus (male human) volunteered to be the academy’s headmaster if he could have the basement of the two-story building to himself. The town agreed, and today, the rooms below the Academy are almost a museum of the strange things and trophies Ilsoari has collected over his years. He keeps these chambers locked, but the children who attend classes on the ground floor and the orphans who live on the upper floor have countless stories about what’s down there, ranging from a goblin farm to a nest of phantom spiders to the Sandpoint Devil itself. Although the contents are much less sinister (Ilsoari is all too happy to show off his collection of exotic weapons, strange maps, and monster trophies to anyone who asks nicely), the old wizard does nothing to dissuade the children’s tales.Mythril DM |

I like it. Why not a Bard?
markofbane |
Well, here's what I had so far for background for him.
Since then, Xepher has spent decades on the go, rarely spending more than a couple of seasons in any one location. He worked as he needed to and travelled from one town to another, one city to another, one country to another and finally started to span continents. He drank in the local cultures and moved on before becoming too attached. Each time he moved, he left behind most of his belongs that he accumulated, taking only the odd souvenirs each time: a small collection of silver coins minted in different countries, his old spell book (even though he hasn’t cracked it open in decades), a pet monkey he got on the Mwangi coast and some Varisian scarves he got when travelling with a caravan.
Now he has landed in Sandpoint and has been here for a couple of seasons, working odd jobs to preserve his savings. He finds himself liking this town and is developing a new theory; perhaps if he finds a way to stay engaged and not take his longevity for granted, perhaps he won’t have to move as often to stave off the fate he fears. To that end, he has started to observe and appreciate the other races more, watching how they live in hopes of gleaning more clues to living to the fullest.
A bard? Link > Isn't that needlessly simplified?

Very cool. How long have you been in Sandpoint? If over five years than you would remember the fire that burned down the church. Sounds like you are thinking only two maybe three years, though. Either way is fine just curious. Since you have been in town awhile is there a particular NPC or location in town you want to be connected to? Of course you would probably know most everyone, just thinking about who you would consider your closest friend(s). You mention a spell book, what class are you going to make? I only suggest bard because your concept sounded very much a bard. Rogue works too, or even Wizard. BTW I love OOTS!

Here's a mostly complete for markofbane. I've been working on refining the character's background, to the point where it even seemed to necessitate a gender change... I should be able to finish her tomorrow; I believe there is just equipment and skills left. For first level, I am looking at a rogue. The mention of the spell book is to help make it more plausible if I decide to multiclass as a wizard; if the character doesn't go wizard, the book is just another memory of her past.
As far as how long in Sandpoint, it can be as long as is good for the story. She came here convinced the Dawn Flower has a purpose for her, so it could be days or years. I haven't singled out an individual she would be connected to; probably someone that keeps her close to the rumor mill so she can try to find clues as to what she needs to do for redemption.
I may take another look at bard before Tuesday. It is just hard because I can see this one's personality going so many ways.

I like the changes! The length of time is up to you. If you want to explore the relationship/feelings associated with your recent encounter with the Paladin then I'd suggest you just got off the boat a few days ago. If you'd rather say that is just in the past then say she has been in town two years or so. It is really up to you. As for someone you have connected to in town, short stay or long stay, I would have to say it is Ameiko the owner of the Rusty Dragon. She too is an adventure who has settled down so I think she would be a kindred spirit for Eponine.

Guys I hate to do this, but things are insane at home lately [My wife and I recently became foster parents to 4 kids (3 teens), and things are hitting the fan a lot lately with them pushing the boundaries of what can and can not be done.] and I do not have the time to write up another character and try to keep up with a storyline unfortunately. I would have loved to play this.
I am going to try and keep up with the LoF one, but I don't have the energy for this one at this time.
Sincerely,

No worries,we will start with out you and should things settle down any you can join in later. I pray that things will go well for your family as it adjusts to the new additions. Last year our up stairs neighbors were able to adopt the two children they were fostering. It is something that my wife and I hope to do in the future, once we finish school and have an income again.

Are you set on Magnimar for your background? Riddleport has a nice bit of criminal underworld types that might work well for your back ground? For example:
Boss Croat is an immensely fat half-orc who runs several street gangs and controls most of the trade in illicit substances on the street. He is well known for his habit of employing only half-orc enforcers and has a reputation as a primary contact for the hiring of professional assassinations through his network of hushmen (hired killers). His fortified compound stands at the end of Silk Street in northern Riddleport.
You could have chosen sides with a Lieutenant that tried to oust Croat from power and take over as the main leader and failed. Since you were a known associate of the traitorous thief Croat put a bounty on your head so you got out of town.

Riddleport is fine. I'd make one change: Bones did not side with a lieutenant but instead used the confusion of a possible coup to leave his gang life and return to Sandpoint. However, in the aftermath of the failure of the coup, a rival of his, perhaps a jealous enforcer, used his absence to blame it on him, resulting in the bounty, of which Bones is not aware.
