So...the lootkeeper's been falling down on the job lately. From the last fight we have the following:
+1 Longsword
Dragon-shaped helm
I'll go back through the thread to find all the loot we've tracked down in the fort so far to see what else needs to be listed. DM Wellard, have we come across any amount of coin that hasn't been mentioned main thread?

So...got a request for my favorite PbP group.
I had a seizure for the first time in my life yesterday morning and have ultimately discovered that it was a result of two nodules and a lesion in my right brain. There was a lot of swelling and edema around the area and I'm currently in the hospital taking steroids to reduce the swelling. I have a biopsy scheduled Friday to determine if it is malignant before we decide what route to take with treatment.
If any of you are praying people, please send a message Heaven-ward for me, please.

Thanks, Nirthuus. I appreciate that. Today's been the first day since I went into the hospital that I've been at all back on my feet.
My preliminary pathology report is due back on Wednesday, but I won't know anything more about my condition until then. I had to go get some routine labs done today at a local doc. If my understanding is correct, the neurosurgeon is hoping to find increased calcium levels in my blood, because that may mean that the nodules and lesion in my brain are calcifying and that would mean they are significantly less likely to be cancerous.
As soon as I know something more, I'll let y'all know.

Medical status update for you guys: After consulting with an oncologist in Warner Robins, Georgia this morning, I have learned that I have either a grade 2 or grade 3 astrocytoma. It IS cancerous. It is NOT the really bad kind. The oncologist I spoke to told me I have already begun the process of scheduling an appointment at MD Anderson in Houston, Texas with a very experienced neurosurgeon there. I'll find out tomorrow morning when exactly my consultation appointment is but it's almost definitely going to be either next Tuesday or next Thursday and my surgery will likely follow within a couple days of that.
For at least a few days following the surgery, it's probably a safe assumption that I'll be incommunicado with everybody..which I hate, because I love you guys!
Phillip0614 |
Medical Update: I'm at MD Anderson in Houston going through new patient stuff today. Very busy schedule until early afternoon meeting with different specialists and getting the actual surgery scheduled for tomorrow. I should be able to post again tonight, but after that I'm not sure when I'll be able to post again.
They're telling me to expect a local recover of 7-10 days, but it's really all gonna depend on me, so expect me to be incommunicado for around a week or so, beginning tomorrow. Sorry for having to do this to you guys! As soon as I'm able to, I'll let you all know what's going on. My wife has told me she'll sign on for me tomorrow after the surgery is over to let you know how it went.
Phillip0614 |
Phillip is feeling fine... well, as fine as one can feel after an all-day brain operation. They think they removed over 95% percent of his tumor. We'll know for sure after he has a post-op MRI.
He's awake, talking, walking, about to get to eat something... Just letting everyone know he's okay like he asked me to do!
Phillip0614 |
Hey gang! Just wanted to let everyone know that I'm back home, recovering from the surgery. Got some very good news from the neurooncologist. The mass that they found in my brain is a grade 2 astrocytoma, the lower grade it could've been. The neurosurgeon was able to remove (according to him) 95-98% of the tumor with the surgery, which my wife has already told you.
At present, because the tumor is grade 2 and the nature of grade 2 astrocytomas is that they are very slow-growing, I do not require any follow-up treatment in the form of radiation or chemotherapy. Moving forward, the treatment plan seems to be that I'm going to have to have an MRI done roughly every quarter to check and see if the tumor has started growing again. When it does, it is at that point that I'll need to seek out radiation/chemo or whatever. But for right now, I am hunky-dory!

Hi Everyone,
I'm sorry that I've been out of touch for so long, but a lot of stuff has happened over the last few weeks. We had a funeral for my mother. Lots of relatives, many I didn't even know. Lots of trips to ATL airport, too. I put two wills into probate. And I finally quit my crappy job. Then I took a week off from the world and went to the mountains, with nothing but squirrels, birds, and DVDs to keep me company.
2012 and 2013 have not been very kind to my family and I. Both of my parents were in and out of hospitals and nursing homes for the last 11 months. Dad passed from cancer in February and Mom just recently from kidney failure. Both of them were pretty miserable for the last few months of their lives.
Trips to two different hospitals every day, watching my parents getting worse and worse, was tough. Combine that with working full time for a company I was growing to hate, plus having to take care of my own life, and I was worn out. My sister-in-law's family owns a cabin in the mountains and it was suggested that I go there rest and "recharge my batteries." Now I know what "stir crazy" feels like.
But the worst is over now. Tomorrow I'll get sworn in as executor and start handling their final affairs. I have the free time to do it.
Phillip, I'm really glad to see you're doing well.

Well sorry that all of that came in such condensed timing, but hopefully now that some of that pain has passed things will stabilize a bit. It can be hard to lose family and deal with the aftermath, my condolences.
Bu you know, I really admire this little cadre we have. Each of us has had some pretty rough stuff come up in since we started the game and we just keep trucking along. Go us, LOL. Welcome back Nirthuus.

Hey everyone, I've decided that with this campaign's 2 year anniversary coming up in just a month, I'm going to do a piece of artwork of our group. To that end, everyone send me as detailed as you feel necessary physical description of your characters. Be aware that since I (and I believe most of us) have come to associate our characters with their profile pics, some portions of those may creep into the piece. Also keep in mind that anything about your character that I don't get I'll take some artistic license with. And I am aware that most of us have pretty detailed descriptions in our characters' profiles; I'm talking about anything not already described. Hopefully I'll have it done by Aug. 4. I'll post a link up here for it when I'm done.

So Nirthuss hasnt posted at all since May 3rd. Hector is a few days overdue but hopefully will return. That leaves, me, Phil, Daniel and Wellard. Shackles will survive without Hector as there are still the rest of us plus Firelight and Voodoo. Shattered Star seems to be dead at this point unless Hector returns (and we would still be a player down), Similarly we have enough to keep Phil's game going without Hector but I am curious what folks think we should do with JR?

Hey everyone I apologize for this and I will post this everywhere I can so that folks can be sure to run into it:
There have been some recent developments in my life both logistically and emotionally that are going to need my focus and attention. While I think I should be able to continue to play after a short hiatus I think it best if I discard other more time consuming activities for the health of my family and in fairness to all of you folks who I play with.
I should be back in about a week or so to posting but I think it best I shut S&S down. I would rather be proactive in the other games I am in rather than constantly struggle and then find myself unavailable on all fronts. I apologize for the abruptness of it all but hopefully we can continue our other games in earnest. I appreciate any tolerance or patience you can muster. Thanks.

Hi all, and thanks for the invitation. I bring with me Asha Black, an ideal scout for the party in the form of a carefree, swashbuckling Desnarite with a host of skills and spells. Hope you can all get along with her...hopefully this will let Wellard set down some of the other characters that have dropped out and leave us a solid core.
PirateDevon |
So I just want to check in here about JR since it looks like out ROW game is winding down. Are we still okay for this one or should we wind this one down too? I just wanted to check in. I am good to keep going but we are moving even slower than we used to. Not sure what happened TBH.
Úlfheðinn Sigmundarson |
I'm not really sure, myself. I've been trying to keep up with things from my end as well as I could and I know I've missed a day here or there. For my part in that, I apologize. Still, I agree that it'd be nice to know if this one is is going to be able to continue moving forward despite the slow pace or if we can try to improve the post rate on our end.
Zaladrel Orain |
I don't know that you need to apologize, things happen and we have been a slower group in general especially since we have had how many players sort of disappear? Waiting on them certainly made things sparse for a long time, I think now its just about asserting actions and being clear on next steps to drive the frequency up.
@Wellard: It seems you have not been on as much but that maybe is holidays? Is the game still working? Want to keep on?
Úlfheðinn Sigmundarson |
Hey guys. Letting you all know I've got some personal stuff going on in real life right now that's going to keep me pretty well occupied for an undetermined amount of time. I don't want to leave because I'm really enjoying this game, and I'm not going to be gone forever, but it's probably gonna be a few days before I'm able to devote time to this again, so please bot me until I can get back. I'll keep y'all posted on when I'm gonna be returning to the game. Thanks!
