Apologies, my attack was aimed at the eastern spider: hence why I referred to it as red tinted ( from Zandu's blood). Not sure if it matters, but I just wanted to clarify. My bad on not specifying better.

Ah, I figured red-tinted referred to the bomb attack and red from the flames -- it wouldn't have killed the eastern spider, so I had assumed a preference to finish off the western one (and regain grit had you needed to).

Cesare's longsword slashes across the eastern spider, who turns it's attention to the duelist, presumably deciding that's a priority over feasting on Zandu immediately.

Still Up: Ebonfeather

Just to summarize, it's 15 (bomb and acid) damage to western spider, and 19 to eastern (sword and gun), with both of them still alive and kicking; is that correct?

-Posted with Wayfinder

I posted earlier than the western spider dropped dead after assuming the red-tinged spider was the one in flames.

Now that we have Cesare's post and damage, I can confirm Habani's shot will kill either spider he targets, leaving one up.

If Ebonfeather connects, you should be out of combat shortly.

Spider damage summary:

Surprise Round
18 Tynat : Bomb vs western spider for 10 (western -10hp)

Round 1
18 Tynat : Acid vs western spider for 5 (western -15hp and still up)
17 Cesare : Sword vs eastern spider for 9 (eastern -9hp and still up)
12 Ebonfeather : TBD
11 Habani : Gun shot at *either* spider for 10 (will now kill either spider; but had assumed western in earlier post)

* Both spiders have 16hp (or more) as far as your PCs can tell.

Ebon, since you have only one natural attack, I believe it gets to apply 1.5x your strength modifer when it is the only attack you make in a round, as per the rules here. So you'd do 1d3+3 damage with it at 14 strength. Unless you took the tengu claws alternative racial trait, which would make it not your only natural attack, and thus only get the regular strength mod.

Hamasaki's bullet swerves and soars into the exploding eastern spider marauding Zandu while Ebonfeather steps up in defense of Tynat and claws at the spider above the wayang. Gripping the creature, he rends it in two.

Out of combat.

With the spiders defeated, you are all able to more thoroughly investigate the desk and its contents.

After several minutes, you realize you have stumbled upon the collected works of Selmius Foster, one of the more preeminent early members of the Pathfinder Society.

It only takes a few minutes to realize that many of his notes never made their way into the Pathfinder Chronicles either.

In addition, you discover notes from Adolphus, who was said to be Selmius's protege.

Continuing to dig through the trove, you also discover that Selmius never finished his investigation into the gnome Eylysia, who reportedly never contributed some of her more important discoveries to the Society.

Image of curious notes

It would seem reasonable for intrepid Pathfinders to pick right up where Selmius and Adolphus left off, if they were so inclined...

The caves all seem to writhe and twist... beyond the scope of the adventure.

@Ebon: Absolutely, there is likely a corner temple en route to your next destination, which might as well be Arkath's Tomb.

1d4 ⇒ 1

Details left by Selmius Foster indicate the location of Arkath’s burial site: a plot of land in Eastgate operated by Amsodeus.

Foster's notes indicated that if were buried in a mausoleum on the church’s property, Arkath paid a substantial sum to have his remains guarded.

As you trek through the grounds, it seems one of the priests that tends to the tombs spots you as he whistles rather loudly and begins moving to intercept you. He appears armed with a mace and wears a rather well-kept breastplate which bears dents and scratches from use.

"Heeeeey! Lookie what we gots here! A bunch o' visitors, innit?"

Zandu rubs his hands together in anticipation.

Tynat mentions something about a Pathfinder Wall and suddenly the intrepid initiates find themselves heading there...

After a short hike to the Grand Lodge in Absalom, you find yourselves standing before the storied Wall Of Names.

Wall Of Names picture

The monument is a curving wall of black glass that stands atop a small hill at the western edge of the lodge’s grounds. Trees surround the hill, providing ample shade and privacy for those visiting the wall to remember fallen comrades. Carved into the wall are the name and date of death of every Pathfinder killed in the course of duty since the wall’s construction, and most entries also include a sentence or two summarizing either the agent’s greatest accomplishments or how she died.

Examining the names mentioned in Foster's notes, you find their markers:

Doulgonlir Caskmail Deceased 4332 AR
Respectfully resigned after losing a friend. Lost to a life among the fish and bountiful sea.

Hollis “Evil Grin” Thorne Deceased 4331 AR
Travelled to distant Jalmeray. Failed to maintain the necessary Sixteen Poses.

Karina Clamp Deceased 4330 AR
Sought the jade idol of ten thousand faces. Now but another sacrifice to the charau-ka of the Mwangi.
