Ajkanir al-Atabiyah |
"That sounds prudent, and as safe as anything is likely to be in this place. I'll take middle watch, so Zahur and Natasha can get some uninterrupted sleep."
Ajkanir al-Atabiyah |
Ajkanir settles down to rest, agreeing with Zahur as he does so, "Yeah, let's wait on that. Wake me in a few hours and I'll take watch."
Natasha Mournglory |
"I am bone-weary," Natasha sighs. She puts down her bedroll against the wall, equidistant from the two available exits and the sarcophagus. "See you all in about eight hours."
The Wizard is soon asleep, Sand the Fox curled up at her side. Unlike his mistress, the fox is still somewhat alert, his ears vibrating at even the slightest noise.
DM Corvus |
The hours crawl by. Without the distraction of the outdoors or civilization, time stretches to nearly the breaking point. the watches seem to last for years with no sun or moon travelling the sky above, no rhythms of life or the living to mark time...
The hours pass, though, undisturbed and silent, but for the sounds of the party shifting in their sleep...
Ajkanir al-Atabiyah |
Ajkanir stirs as well, glad to see the spellcasters have gotten some rest. "Yes," he replies to Zahur, "let's take a look and see what horrible magics we can unleash. At least we'll be a step closer to figuring this place out, I hope."
Just in case, he loosens his scimitar in its sheath, and moves toward the sarcophagus with Zahur.
DM Corvus |
Inert, lifeless as before, the sarcophagus waits.
Usually an Osirion sarcophagus is a thing of beauty, wrought with the finest metals into a likeness of the one interred within; however this is but a stone vessel, unmarked but for the tiny etching, and unremarkable but for the extraordinary surroundings.
Khol Karis |
Khol crouched on the edge of the party's light sources, picking his teeth with a claw and waiting. He knew little about ancient Osirion and was not about to go poking around one of their sarcophaguses without any knowledge.
"Perhaps the jar has some insight?"
Zahur al Kinasi |
Mmmmm, not sure we grabbed it. Looking back, I see where Khol grabbed (and threw) a non-talking one, but I don't see where we grabbed the chatty one. Also no one has touched the sarcophagus yet. We wanted to wait till after we rested to even read it.
Khol Karis |
Khol is most certainly not carrying the necromantic talking jar.
"I suppose I will have to be the one to shift the lid," Khol grumbled, stepping into the light.
"After all, the lot of you seem to be made of sticks." With surprising dexterity his tail retrieved a well worn but useable crowbar from his pack and passed it to one of his hands.
"Any objections before I set to work?"
Ajkanir al-Atabiyah |
"No indeed, Khol, no objections. Set to work with your stick opening the certainly cursed sarcophagus."
Zahur did say "Let's make sure we get the jar." in this post. None of us described picking it up, though. So I'd think it's reasonable for one of us to have it, but it could just as reasonably go the other way. If we have it, Ajkanir will carry it if necessary.
