DM Aron Marczylo |
Will post on Friday, with or without other people's surprise round actions. So far I have Carina, Jameson and Zorestar. Also here's a reminder of the order after the surprise rounds.

Catrina Stigard (Greenwood)
The Hermit Ganit D'Artain
Telias Markan
Jameson Addercop IV
Zorestar Lebeda
???
Sir Bronwyn Raslov (Greenwood)
???
Bronwyn Greenwood |
Bronwyn has cast the following spells:
heroism on Jameson (50 minutes duration)
moment of greatness on everyone (5 minutes duration
dazzling blade and mirror image on himself (5 minutes duration)
vanish on himself as they approach (5 rounds duration)
He will use the surprise round to move closer to the wolves while under the vanish spell.
DM Aron Marczylo |
Will post tomorrow. Sorry, the day I said I would post got a little muddled up with other stuff. Anyone know of a replacement for Ganit since he still hasn't replied to any of my messsages?
DM Aron Marczylo |
Catrina steps forward and issues out flames to immolate one of the Worgs, however the creature manages to shake the fire out before it got out of control and it howls for attention.
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Ganit fires his arrows at the already wounded worg, striking it hard and in the neck, but the creature remains standing for the moment.
attack: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 9 - 2 = 19
damage: 1d8 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 4 = 11
Telias casts fly on himself and Jameson moves closer to the Worgs in an attempt to get a good charge. Zorestar casts his Haste spell to help speed up the group.
Sir Bronwyn...you saw his disappeared and now he might have moved off someone into the distance.
Round 1
Order (after surprise round):
Catrina Stigard (Greenwood)
The Hermit Ganit D'Artain
Telias Markan
Jameson Addercop IV
Zorestar Lebeda
???
Sir Bronwyn Raslov (Greenwood)
???
the dot is a reminder that you can't see Bronwyn.
Imageshack is now asking for money to host images on their sight so all new photos will be from photobucket instead.
Carina Stigard |
Round 1
Carina, apparently forgetting that they group was using stealth to protect its casters, yells at the worgs in Orcish.
Burn you stupid dogs.
A second later three darts of light spring from her hands and fly across the distance striking the already injured worg.
Cast Magic Missile:
Damage: 3d4 + 6 ⇒ (3, 3, 4) + 6 = 16
DM Aron Marczylo |
Catrina's darts of light peirce and knock down the might worg, leaving only one left for the group.
DM Aron Marczylo |
The grizzled ranger moves forward, up next to a hill and aimed his bow, taking another deadly aimed shot at the remaining creature.
Attack: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 9 - 2 = 20
Damage: 1d8 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 4 = 8
Zorestar A. Lebada |
"Burn you stupid dogs."
"Technically speaking, your grace, your spell does not actually burn the luporum magna. Kindly permit me to show you how to burn them."
Round 1
The wizard moves his hands in somatic gestures as he quickly draws forth tallow, brimstone, and powdered iron from his spell component pouch. A moment later he declares, "Yangin Kure!" to complete the casting of Flaming Sphere.
Suddenly a burst of fire appears next to the worgs and leaps at one of them.
3d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 5) = 15 (Reflex Save DC 18 negates)
"Not bad, but I must really work to optimize the effects of this spell!"
Jameson Addercop IV |
Round 1
HP = 50/50
AC = 21/11/20 (23/11/22 w/ Shield)
Weapon Equipped = Lance
Speed = 50'
Challenge = 2/2
Status Effects = Mounted
Donal HP = 44/44 AC = 22 (20 Charging)
Status Effects = None
Jameson waits, lance at the ready, for the creatures to move closer.
DM Aron Marczylo |
The last Worg snarls at the group with it's dark red eyes beeming into everyone. At this moment you all hear a howl that sends a chill down your spine. A howl that sounds much like the harsh winter winds, but merged with the call of a wolf.
Emerging from Telias' home is a wolf the size of a bear and with fur as white as winter snow.
The creature is known as a Winter Wolf. It was first discussed as a relative of the Worg due to it's wolf form and human-like intelligent, however this was corrected when a controversial researcher actually spoke with one and found that these creatures view worgs the same way as we view non-intelligent apes. Close genetically, sure, but no where on the same level.
Like any hunting animal they have scent, but also abilities to see in the darkness and low light.
These creatures are known to bellow out a long cone of freezing cold breath that can chill humans right to the bone to kill humans, keeping them fresh for food.
The most nimble are able to dodge out of the way of such a blast and it takes time before the creature can bellow out another powerful blow too.
Due to it's alignment to the cold, it is immune to all cold damage from spells and able to live in beyond freezing conditions. Due to being so immersed in the cold, but it is vulnerable to fire.
It is because of such immunities that they are known to ally themselves with frost giants, acting as equals in the group of giants and even helping them out with scouting and ambushes.
Winter wolves are larger, smarter, more ferocious variants of worgs with white fur and a deadly breath weapon.
A typical winter wolf is 8 feet long, stands 4-1/2 feet tall at the shoulder, and weighs about 450 pounds. Winter wolves will often ally themselves with frost giants, hill giants, and other large humanoids, serving entire tribes of giants as both scouts and guards.
Winter wolves also see werewolves as kind, having the intelligence of any human, but trapped in a body of a creature that doesn't have thumbs. It is also said that such creatures serve the daughters of Baba-Yaga in the far north as loyal servants and scouting the perimiter to keep the Ulfen out of the land.
The creature charges down and gets closer to the group. It's mere presence sends a chill down your spine as you can see cool air bellow off the creature's body, showing how freezing cold it is.
Zorestar A. Lebada |
Knowledge, Arcana: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (2) + 14 = 16
"Did you all hear that sound? Do you see that bear sized white creature charging at us with snarling teeth? That is what I believe to be lupus et hiems, a winter wolf. From what I understand, It was first discussed as a relative of the worg due to it's wolf form and human-like intelligent. However this was corrected when a controversial researcher actually spoke with one and found that these creatures view worgs the same way as we view non-intelligent apes. Close genetically, sure, but no where on the same level. Consequently, I think we are dealing with something very clever. Hehe. I wonder if I took out one of my mathematics books if it would slow the creature down."
Carina Stigard |
Knowledge(arcana): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Carina glances at Zorestar:
It is a smelly cold dog. And dogs burn.
She then yells across the area.
Hope you like fire!!!
Case Spontaneous Immolation.
Damage: 3d6 + 3 ⇒ (4, 1, 6) + 3 = 14 + catch on fire <-- fire damage
--> DC17 Fort for 1/2 damage and avoiding catching on fire
--> If on fire, takes 1d6+1 damage each round and may make a DC17 reflex save to extinguish the flames
DM Aron Marczylo |
I've moved Bronwyn. As he's still invisible he's, unknown to you guys, moving around without being seen.
The remaining Worg moves forward and gets closer to the group.
Round 2
Order (after surprise round):
Catrina Stigard (Greenwood)
The Hermit Ganit D'Artain
Telias Markan
Jameson Addercop IV
Zorestar Lebeda
Howl of the North Wind
Sir Bronwyn Raslov (Greenwood)
Worg
DM Aron Marczylo |
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20
The wolf shakes off the flame, however the fire appears to have caught easily on the creature far more effective than usual.
The grizzled veteran moves up closer to the shaggy black warg, the arrow strikes deep into the creature, but it remains standing, however this arrow appears to have entered the throat of the creature.
Attack: 1d20 + 9 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 9 - 2 + 1 = 24
Damage: 1d8 + 3 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 4 + 1 = 14
Telias Markan |
"GIT OUT MA HOUSE!"
TElias flies up 20ft. and to O29.
Swift: Activate Hawk eye to add +2 to ranged attack rolls.
Standard: chuck produce flame bolt at the winter wolf.
1d20 + 3 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 3 + 2 + 1 = 23 Touch attack
1d6 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 fire Damage
DM Aron Marczylo |
Telias' fire burnt the winter wolf terribly. It growls and glares over at him and Zorestar then unleashes a barrage of magic missiles at the large beast.
Going to do a new rule from my IRL PFS group. Whenever a creature looks "physical" that'll be a idea of it being roughly half-hitpoints and critical as in 5% or less. The worg is Critical and Howl of the North Wind is Physical.
In a bold move, the winter wolf charges at Carina and takes a bite out of her, but it doesn't manage to pull her down to trip her up.
attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 31
damage: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11 + 1d6 ⇒ 5 cold and 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15
Sir Bronwyn is up. Is he around?
Carina Stigard |
Carina growls: My husband is going to be p!ssed at you.
She then steps back and waves of fire shoot from her hands as she yells to the others.
Bron, your sword.
Cast Defensively: 1d20 + 5 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 + 5 = 25 vs DC17
Damage: 5d4 + 5 ⇒ (4, 2, 4, 2, 2) + 5 = 19 <-- Reflex DC17 for 1/2 damage
Two things, Bron should be size large from the Enlarge Person I cast. Also, why did Bron move away from protecting me and Zorestar? I see that you posted he moved, but am confused as to why he would have moved away from blocking the charge lane while invisible?
DM Aron Marczylo |
A mistake my end, I was trying to be stealthy with Bron, moving up to the creature whilst invisible to then smack them with the sword, but clearly I should've stayed back as you pointed out.
DM Aron Marczylo |
tried to post last night, but something went wrong. i moved Bron back as he never should've ran forward to begin with.
Bronwyn charges whilst invisible at the winter wolf, cutting a massive slice into the creature. Before you all appears your lord again, but this time Large sized and imposing.
attack: 1d20 + 4 - 1 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 4 - 1 + 1 + 2 = 18
damage: 2d8 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (3, 2) + 4 + 1 + 1 = 11
The Worg charges at Ganit and bites him viciously on the ankle, pulling him down to the ground.
attack: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 7 + 2 = 26
damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
trip attempt: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
As per to a house rule with my IRL group, the creatures are all at Critical. Critical meaning less tan 10% health, physical being 50%.
Round 3
Order:
Catrina Stigard (Greenwood)
The Hermit Ganit D'Artain
Telias Markan
Jameson Addercop IV
Zorestar Lebeda
Howl of the North Wind
Sir Bronwyn Raslov (Greenwood)
Worg
and I just noticed Catrina already posted.
Catrina's spell burns the creature and with a howl it falls to the ground, collapsing to the ground.
Ganit draws a dagger and stabs at the beast. Ganit stabs the beast deep in the neck and it collapses to the ground, dead as it's pack leader.
attack: 1d20 + 7 - 4 ⇒ (15) + 7 - 4 = 18
damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
That's the end of the battle. Ganit is only slightly wounded and the creature was on 0 after the stab, but I doupt it was going to end up killing anyone, lol.
The barn appears to be mostly unmolested. There is a lot of snow and ice in the centre and the only dog mess is outside and around the hut, but certainly not inside the hut. There's also a lot of shaggy fur that needs to be cleaned up.
Lord Maegar Varn AKA DM |
Telias pulls a knife and goes towards the winter wolf.
"Ima make a coat and sausages outta da sonuvab&*$&."
You can make a survival check if you wish. It'll take sometime to cook, considering it's a creature that radiates cold.
Arriving shortly on scene, Maegar Varn arrives with a small group of heavily armoured soldiers. They arrive on scene, but slow down once they all realise that the combat has ended.
"My scouts saw you in battle and we came to assist, but it appears you have taken care of the beasts yourself." he moves towards the winterwolf and gives a nod "So this was the might Howl of the North Wind? I must admit, I had only heard stories, but never thought a winterwolf would come this far from any mountains or cold climates."
DM Aron Marczylo |
*slisch* *Grch* *crunch*
1d20+16 Survival
Telias goes at it like a man possesed, but under control. He takes his time and takes out the choice meats, avoiding the poisonous liver and managing to skin the creature's fur sufficiently and expertly. You get the sense that he's been spending a lot of time out here, skinning creatures wich such obvious experience.
Carina Stigard |
Carina looks as Telias slices and dices the wolf.
I can warm that up if you want.
When Varn arrives.
Lord Varn, welcome. We were just finishing preparing dinner. I like to call it fried ice. Have you ever tasted well cooked winter wolf? I have no clue what it will taste like, but this seemed to be a prime time to try as not many traveling merchants have a supply of fresh winter wolf.
Lord Maegar Varn AKA DM |

Varn is a little put off at the suggestion and politely declines
"I have already had my meal earlier I'm afraid. I am uncertain if such a intelligent creature should be cooked and eaten, however it is more beast than most other creatures I've heard of them controlling." he states, but he does a bow and get off his horse to greet you at a more even height. "I was just on a regular visit to your wonderful city. After this...er...meal, Would you like to accompany us head back to the capital?"Carina Stigard |
Carina thinks about Varn's words for a moment before turning back to Telias:
You sure we should be eating this thing? We have plenty of food from the farms that we have developed in the land to the north of the capital.
She then looks back to Lord Varn:
My apologies for the informal greeting. Usually we would welcome you in the capital with the usual pomp and circumstance. You know that my husband prefers the formalities and the like.
Actually, as we had just finished up eliminating this frozen dog, I suppose I would appreciate your company on the return trip. Larger forces usually scare away any menace foolish enough to attack.
She then looks back to Telias:
You going to continue playing with the animals or would you like to join us?
Telias Markan |
"You cam go on back ta playin king n queen I got mah house ta take care of." Telias says as something squiggly and distinctly organ like is hurled over his shoulder. "Less you wanna stay and help shovel the s&++ out mah house?"
Zorestar A. Lebada |
"Greetings, Lord Varn. How lovely it is to see you again. If you are heading back to the capital, I would be delighted to accompany you. I confess that I much prefer the comforts of home and I am not too use to staying out here in the wilderness. Naturally, I was glad to make a contribution to the task appointed us, but now that said task is completed, I am much inclined to return to my books . . . . and uhhm of course to your lovely daughter as well . . . naturally."
Carina Stigard |
Once Zorestar has unsteadily mounted his stead, Carina looks to Lord Varn with a big grin.
Your son-in-law needs to lighten up. Want to see something funny, watch this.
She then casts Grease on Zorestar's saddle to see what happens.
--> probably DC16 Reflex to avoid falling off the horse.
Lord Maegar Varn AKA DM |
"You cam go on back ta playin king n queen I got mah house ta take care of." Telias says as something squiggly and distinctly organ like is hurled over his shoulder. "Less you wanna stay and help shovel the s!*& out mah house?"
Maegar laughs at his step-son's memory of his daughter and gave a smile to Telias, talking about his home.
"There isn't likely to be any in there. Winter Wolves are very intelligent and wouldn't sleep where they have their mess, but there might be one or two other things of interest there." he states as he joins Telias, wondering what might be left behind. The home seems reletivly untouched to most people's perceptions, but Telias notices white and black fur all over the place, covering his bed and all his own little things. Everything has been altered or moved, but the one thing everyone notices is more bones of unfortunate passer-bys who died at their hands. There appear to be no identifying marks on them and all their bones are more than sufficiently chewed.
anyone seen Bron?
Carina Stigard |
No clue about Bron. He might have evacuated his home because of the coming World Cup.
He has one post as Rune on May 24, one post in another campaign I am in with him on April 17, and the last posts other than those are March 27. I hope we have not lost him. I am hoping that if we can get the speed up, he will return.
Also, I think that Zorestar is going to be gone for a few weeks this summer traveling. I should be around most of the time.
Carina looks to James:
Your guess is as good as mine as to what the crazy hermit will do. We should let him play with the fur and bones that the wolves left him. He will probably make a hat out of them or something.
Turning back to Lord Varn.
I think that it is time to head back to the capital to make sure that nothing has happened while we were gone.
Zorestar A. Lebada |
I will be away in Scotland for the month of July. I am happy to resume frequent posting when I return, but unfortunately, I will not be able to contribute too much for the month of July.
"
I think that it is time to head back to the capital to make sure that nothing has happened while we were gone."
"I agree. I think my feather bed is waiting at home! I really do dread travel! The sooner we depart, the sooner we can get back to normalcy!"
Carina Stigard |
I have no idea where Bron is. He is in one other campaign with me, but that one has been pretty much inactive for almost two months.
He is still on the site. I see a post by him on July 14. So, I assume he is around. Might want to shoot him a PM.
DM Aron Marczylo |
Still not heard from Bron. I'll send him yet another message.
