Essua picks up his dagger from the centipede's corpse and moseys into the room where D. killed the Mite. "I feel like we should probably have chased them," He says. "With all the little loops and pockets in the tunnel we just came through, I'm guessing they've already got their ambush planned out."

As he's speaking he's cleaning the centipede ichor from his knife. His mind wanders briefly. I wonder what kind of meat you can get out of a centipede like that? I wonder if Dad would even know how to carve it?

"Thing is," he continues, "Not sure how a trio of blue mites qualifies as 'Troublesome beasts'." I'm guessing they're off to get their big brother.

"I am, however, prepared to trust our falcon friend here's perceptive abilities. With his eyes, I think we can proceed cautiously. I'm willing to take the vanguard, if you guys are game."

Think I'll skip the optional encounter as the pbp takes so long as it is.

As you gain closer down the tunnel you can feel a strong wind coming from that direction and you can hear Janira's voice,

Essua watches the halfling fall and then sees Dividesmit fly across between him and the minotaur, a flurry of feathers and claws and fangs. He is tempted to cry out. He is tempted to run away. He is tempted to fall off the log. He curses the hubris that made him think he didn't need to carry a ranged weapon.

Time slows to a crawl as his mind takes it all in.

Essua doesn't carry a ranged weapon because he prefers to feel his blade cutting the flesh of his victims. He learned cutting up cattle, after all. He can pinpoint all the places on a cow that cause instant death.

Aha!

Ideas snap into place like magnets as Essua realizes that a minotaur is a lot like the beef that he's been cutting up at his father's shop for all these years. Hell, judging from the ragged look of this beast, he's felled tougher, meaner cattle in his time. This gives him burst of confidence; especially needed after teetering on the log like a dope on his way across the river. There will be no running away today. Maybe some bow training in the future, but for today, this glorified cow is about to taste Day family steel.

Time returns to normal speed.

He dashes around Nigiri and moves as close as he can (six steps southward as a single move) then stops, and calls out to the minotaur. Free action, but with options (see spoiler.)

"Ok, Fedinand," he jeers. "You're real tough, beating up a halfling. Why don't you try taking on someone your own size." He thumps his chest. "I am a butcher's son. I've carved peices of meat bigger than you into pies. You think you're tough? Try me, you cow."

He drops into a defensive stance, daring the Minotaur to engage him.

OOC GM OPTIONS :
If I have the ability to run Essua's mouth off for free, I'll drop into "Total Defense" as the standard action for the turn, giving him a +4 Dodge Bonus to his AC.

If the GM would prefer, I will use my standard action to roll an intimidate check, but will then be at my normal AC at the end of my turn.

Optional Intimidate Check: 1d20 ⇒ 14

the only rough terrain is the water which requires a Swim check to bypass.

Essua goes into total defence in his current position, ready to deflect this creature's attacks if it advances.

@Essua Intimidate is an action, however when you speak to it, it doesn't appear to understand you. It just looks at you because you're screaming at it.

@Nigari You can't stealth up in the daylight. Not to mention it sees you coming and there's no rocks to hide under either so you're very out in the open.

Abaal's advancment trigger's the creature to attempt to smash him with it's axe.

damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (5, 3) + 4 = 12

Amelia gets closer to the battlefield and Reis gives out her healing energies that helps save Abaal who is prone, but awake and alive.

Janira continues to bleed on the ground

Forgot for Minotaur's go. I'll put it below.

The beast, being enraged at the warrior who stabbe his blade deep into it's belly and attempts to smash him with it's broken weapon

attack vs Essua: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21

damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (6, 4) + 4 = 14

Silver Crusade

Human Ecclesitheurge Cleric | HP: 8 | AC: 12 FF 10 TCH 12 | Perception +2 | CMD 11 Channel/Day: 8/8 | Spells (0) 3 (1) 1+D+1

Reis, levels her crossbow and takes a shot at the minotaur.

light crossbow: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (10) + 2 - 4 = 8 for pierce damage: 1d8 ⇒ 2

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Fighter 1 | HP 13/13 | AC 17 - t 15 - ff 10 | INIT: +2 | Fort+4, Ref +2, Will +2 | BAB +1 | CMD 16 | Percep: 0 | Heal +8

Essua's eyes go wide and the color runs out of his face as the Minotaur's damaged battle-axe strikes him. His mouth falls open, and he considers several witty or funny things he could say, but the only sound that comes out of his mouth is a wet, gagging burp.

His eyes roll back in his head and he collapses where he stands,

check to become stable: 1d20 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (6) + 2 - 1 = 7
FAIL! -1 HP.

A small trickle of blood rolls down his chin.

Abaal (2 hp if I have the count correct after Reis' heal)

There was a second burst for 1 so I'm at a whole 3 now.

Abaal checks Jania, (heal: 1d20 ⇒ 15) stands and draws his dagger. If he makes the roll he announces her condition to those nearby.

Abaal looks long and hard at the falchion laying in the dust between himself and the beast, all the while weighing it's worth against the small blade in his hand.

Abaal checks Jania, ([dice=heal] 1d20 ) stands and draws his dagger. If he makes the roll he announces her condition to those nearby.

Sorry, I had just copy and pasted that, yep it should be 3.

From what you can tell it appears she is no longer in the land of the living. There's nothing you can do for her.
