Not yet pretty boy Johan. One does not dismiss Elise like that!

As Johan starts raise from the chair, clearly indicating he is leaving, Elise lean across the table and hold his hand ”Not yet.” she says, indicating there’s still more to be said.

Assuming you stay…
”That won’t do, from what I heard, this horn is not far away, and a week old message avails us nothing. What does it serve if you only read it after someone visit the place?” she asks but don’t wait you answer before continuing. ”There are some magical ways, but they are not cheap or easy to use, and should be only used on emergency. Daily reports or anything for sorts, we cannot risk it to be found by any stranger, so there should be no drop point. Tell me how to reach the place, and at least one safe way to deliver a message, or you may as well tell the Cardinal my help isn’t necessary, since you clearly don’t seem to need it.”

So I guess we did hand wave the trip back?

Before leaving the for the city Sidous pays a visit to Agrippa. I may have been unwise in trying to keep one of these iron plates for myself. It occurs to me that we cannot tell which plate will control which dameon, but if one of us has both plates then he can control either or both and knowing which is which becomes less important.[/b[ He offers the second plate to the wizard. I have some skills at binding such creatures, but I doubt I will ever be as good as you can be. So I give you this and ask only that you allow me to assist you when you are summoning so that my strength can be added to yours when it will help.

Sidious uses Abraxas to scout for the group but is still surprised that the group did not encounter the Treant on the way back to the city. Once there he has little else to do but to try to fill his shopping list and asks the entire party for help. Silver and diamond dusts will draw some attention but not as much as requests for large black onyx. If you see any of this stone purchase it discretely but I think it prudent to place any orders for it through the Baron and his contacts. Thoughts?

Wearing the visage of a northern spearman he will shop for his spear, belt, ring and sickle. He will also offer to help anyone else on any of their quests. I can be somewhat persuasive, if you need that skill.

Johan harumphs in assent to Elize's request. He marks an "x" on her map of the briar. There is a cavern there. At the mouth of it have your messenger call out that he wishes to speak to "Talks-to-Toads" then wait. Tell him not to venture into the cave, else he may be eaten. With those cryptic instructions delivered, Johan turns his back on the white clad witch and strides out.

earlier, to Sidious: Agreed, lets purchase the onyx through the Baron - might as well put him to use for something.

I will place your request under consideration Master Sidious. At least the man now acknowledges my superiority. Agrippa thinks, smugly.

Agrippa is such an Ahole. @GM Agrippa knows which one is which right? He did study the murals.

Human Hero Killer1 / Holy Assassin1 / Deceiver2

Hey! I'm not done yet! Get back here!

Once again, as Johan tries to leave, the witch hold his hand once more. "What's hurry? I don't bite, you know." she says smiling to Johan.

At the word bite, lots of strange things happens, a unknown feeling that begins way down your back, and rises or goes down, you are not really sure.

"I don't think you'll be missed if you stay for some more hours..." she continues, smiling provocatively.

Agrippa thinks about the Mural? Int: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

Human Hero Killer1 / Holy Assassin1 / Deceiver2

…and nothing really comes to his mind. There is no chance that he would miss anything.

He was the master of his own mind. Lucky, chance, were naught for him. Logic and reason. Power and will to use that power. That were the wheels, which sustained the world, and Agrippa was sure, he was above the rest. His were the knowledge and reason.

Agrippa thinks again, even harder this time VPReroll: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19 Oh better

Human Hero Killer1 / Holy Assassin1 / Deceiver2

...but then, he remembers the murals that describe the binding, and using his vast intellect, he begins to explore the possibilities...

Moreover, one thing he knows for sure. It does not matter which amulet belongs to whom, it's just a matter of connecting it to the one in the daemons’ neck and see if it reacts.

That however is where the problem resides, since the amulet is what control and bind them to this plane, and if they take it for themselves, they could very well break the binding and be free to do as they please.

So, after that, one thing Agrippa knows for sure. None better suited to accompany him than their minions, the ones with inferior intellect, but great brute strength.

Eldred does his shopping through the Barons good graces, happy to use him to procure both bracers and belt as well as his other requests. He definetely wants to settle in for the wait, knowing that the key to killing that damn treant at a distance is the Adamandite weapon blanch he jas now recieved.

He is also happy to use the Barons hospitality while he arranges for furniture and supplies for the tavern. He leaves the procurement of labour to the Lord of Drowington maner so that the man may take his cut from their first weeks pay (paid in advance) and thus helping him see profit from the relationship with Eldred.

Eldred will take leadership at 7th level with an eye to starting his organisation with Drownington Manor but not sure how you want this to play out and does it become applicable now

Johan grew up in a remote and puritanically strict Mitran home. He was recruited into the monastic inquisition at a young age. His experience with members of the opposite sex is limited, and...skewed. In response to these unfamiliar feelings, his paranoid mind immediately jumps to one conclusion - Witch craft!

"What's the hurry? I don't bite, you know." she says smiling to Johan

Johan responds with a scowl and snatches back his hand. He remembers the savage joy he felt as Asmodeus' magics transformed his mouth into a devilish maw of razor fangs with which he could devour his enemies. He looks down at Elize and with a perfectly straight face responds, But I do, and makes for the door without looking back.

Human Hero Killer1 / Holy Assassin1 / Deceiver2

@Johan

After your first meeting with the baron, and the not so subtle, demonstration of brute strength, whenever you tried to talk with the baron again, he would always be busy somewhere else, leaving you to deal with the manservant.
You didn’t think he was afraid of you, but just found your attitude not fitting to talk to nobles.

After leaving the Baron's (unduly satisfied by the scene he caused), Johan heads to the merchant district to secure the mundane ( read: non-contraband) supplies the knot requires. He stops by a weapons smithy to repair the dagger that the treant had damaged. He had retrieved it from the corpse of Sir Balin, a captured inquisitor and the first true devotee of Mitra that he and Eldred had killed. He was quite fond of it and looked forward to using it to carve his name in the treant's hide(Skin? Bark? He wasn't sure).

He picked up a second good quality knife as well, just to be sure, and while he was waiting, he tested the weight on some of the other weapons scattered about the shop. He took a few practice slashes with a sickle, but it reminded him too much of his youth - a weapon for sheep. Then his eye was drawn to a crude mace with wicked pointed barbs protruding from its head. The weight felt good, and the spikes reminded him of the barbs and spurs on some of the devils he had seen pictures of when studying at the cardinal's manor.

He looked down at his mace. In those same books it was always the weapon of choice for Asmodeus' most favoured preists, but Johan was no priest. He was a butcher; a culler of the weak; a bringer of misery to the undeserving. Those barbs just felt right...

He called the shop keep over to "discuss" prices.

Johan would like to buy a +1 cruel Morningstar. Using the same 30% rule that Eldred used for his bracers for non core stuff: <30: 1d100 ⇒ 46
ah well... how about a +2 Morningstar instead?

Sidious tries to meet with the Baron personally. His is polity and courtly. If he is able to get such a meeting he assures the Baron that all is going as planned but that they expect to be at the Horn for the better part of the year. He will express gratefulness in the Baron's continued support and assure the man that their mutual master will be quite pleased with him. leaving it open if Sidious is referring to Thorn or to Asmodeous.

Her will broach his need for material components (silver and diamond dust, and the large number of black onyx needed for certain spells. I fear certain people may be watching for attempted large purchase of such stones and would be in your debt if you could arrange for their purchase for me.

Sure, no issues with a +2 weapon.

@Sidious

It took some attempts to convince the manservant to actually summon the baron. It seems Johan’s actions displeased the man greatly, but in the end, after some effort, you finally were able to meet face to face with the man.

Of course the Baron isn’t alone, and he does not pretend to hide his ‘elite’ bodyguards, stationed inside the room while you talk. The message there is kite clear If you don’t behave as guests, then I have no obligation to behave as host.

An almost constant ringing of hammer on steel echoes from a small workshop next to a stone and thatch longhouse.

Once an outsider, the dwarf Denock has lived in Farhold longer than many of the current residents. Denock eyes outsiders with distrust and is only willing to sell simple farming tools. If mad friendly with a DC 11 Diplomacy check, Denock is skilled enough to craft any type of masterwork weapon, or repair one, a fact that he has kept secret.

As Johan’s approach, the dwarf eyes him warily as he says ”What ye wanting here, lad?”

Sidious uses his best honeyed tongue for this discussion. He is formal and complementary with the Baron. Thank you for your time my Baron. It shall done as you say. I would like to bring at least the larger stone and a small handful of the small ones with me when I depart if that can be arranged. I consider them essential for the defense of the Horn. He hands over a folded note to the man indicated. I should like to once again accept your superior hospitality while I am in town. I feel so much safer under your roof than any inn.

Choosing his words carefully Sidious endeavors to enlighten the Baron without revealing too much. Yes, we have had some luck there at the Horn. We have met with much resistance. In some cases we have been able to win that resistance over to our side and in others we have and to put down potential valuable allies. There exists there a shrine consecrated to Mitra that is a poison to me. I hope to eliminate the blemish as soon as we return. And the place is large. It might be difficult to garrison and guard, but, with your assistance I am sure we shall not fail.

In addition to the pub fitting and supplies we're coming to you for we'd like to have several women along. Put it vague, because the 'manpower' is only available after you get vile leadership.

Human Hero Killer1 / Holy Assassin1 / Deceiver2

@Agrippa

Can't really take 20. You gain bonus on the test tho.

Talking with the Vlademir is somewhat complicated. Even since Johan imposed his 'I-can-snap-you-neck-with-my-hands' attitude, it takes some convincing to meet that man, thing that Agrippa isn't known for.

He tries, but ultimately, it seems a waste of labor and time, since it was always in the others best interest to meet a cultured and intelligent, powerful and important person such as himself, and once more, he reaches the conclusion that the week minded individuals, aren't worth his time. The baron included.

Even then, the library is still available and open to use.

Johan objected. I'll pay 500 out of my own pocket. I'll update my sheet. Is he able to source labourers for us. The deal being that we pay the going rate but he pockets a small amount from each workers salary for the first month as a sort of agency fee for finding them the work. We pay the standard rate so we are happy, The Lord of Drownington makes a few coppers (that add up over many workers) per person and the poor are made poorer - so it's a winning strategy

That was a lazy description from my part. I’ll rephrase it.

While the knot prepares for a possible battle with the Horn guardian, Abraxas flies ahead, invisible, scouting for any possible threat or hidden danger.

Hidden behind his invisibility spell, the imp searches the area, but finds nothing, except the treant, at the same spot the knot found it for the first time.

While the imp was flying about the treant loot at imp direction but does nothing more than that. Maybe it heard the flapping of wings, but was unable to locate the source of the noise.

With nothing more to see, the Imp returns, and conveys his findings to him master.

Do I shoot it with an arrow or do you try to burn it down first? I think we need to draw it out into this clearing first - risky though it be, so that it can't run away again. It will give you two or three shots before it runs too far. Just say the word... I'll close to visual range and hit it then run. If it sends just tree minions against us then we can still have you blast it - your call.

Or we can just charge it blades drawn while you shoot fire over our heads.

Tactics? What are those? Also, never wait for consensus in PbP, two votes and go. Let's kill a tree

Eldred casts Gravity Bow, advances til he can see the tree in the distance (100 ft), carefully aims and then shoots the tree (adamandite blanched arrow - not sure if it beats DR).

Attack 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (7) + 14 = 21
Damage 2d6 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (4, 2) + 4 + 1 = 11
