Tarkus' willingness to set about distinctly un-Dwarven tasks with a grim, cynical determination might just make him one of my favorite Dwarves I've ever played with.

Thanks. I find it pretty easy to slip into char with Tarkus, as I really want to prove LG does not mean Lawful Stupid or Lawful Preachy. Although right now I really want an excuse to knock the taste out of his mouth, but here is hoping we can end this peacefully.
As I have said before, this game is great and I love how everyone is bringing some good individual flair to the group dynamic. :)

I'm reading the discussion thread first and cannot wait to find out what Tarkus has been up to. I'm pretty much okay with anything since our GM did something that showed her skills.
However while I wish I could post at the speed of some of you, my life is just too busy for that. Can generally manage to post daily and occasionally a spate when I'm on a quiet evening.
So now to read the 33 posts since my last post.
Cheers

Tending my sick husband :( I'll get posts up in the next few hours.
Adrac has been out of contact for the last week. So I'm switching Adrac over to an NPC. Adrac will hang out with you guys to Falcon's Hollow, then part ways with the group. He will continue to exist in the game world as an NPC in Falcon's Hollow.
I do not plan on grabbing a replacement at this time, as having a party of 5 saves me from having to adjust CRs, and also it gives CaptainFord a chance to come back if whatever has happened to him gets better.
If you guys would really like a replacement, I'll send PMs out to some of my favorite other applicants. Just let me know!

Ah, sorry your husband is ill. I hope he makes a speedy recovery! Being sick is the worst. :-/
As for Adrac, I am dismayed to hear that. I've developed a quick affection for this whole group and would prefer a universe in which he gets back in touch with us. I also don't feel like a sixth member is a desperate necessity, so I'm in with you on letting it be at five and if he comes back then all the better!
Tarkus Shieldsplitter |
I hope our resident Uncle Iroh comes back soon as well, but knowing he will be there as a NPC is also a small comfort.
Side note: As much as I would love to regenerate some HPs, Herral put the judgement on himself and not Tarkus. I am still one stray confirmed crit from being KO'd. :)

Side note pt 2: Taking nephew to soccer practice, so staging my move here in case Herral posts before I get back tonight.
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Seeing that his lower strike was ineffective against the Shunned, Tarkus decided to close the gap and try to overpower the dwarf with an all out assault. Lunging, Tarkus willingly opened his defenses as he brought the axe down once more in a bone crushing blow.

Whoof. Had a rather excruciating day, and I'm behind on sleep on top of that. Should be fresh again to post by tomorrow (maybe even later tonight if I can get a decent evening nap in!).
Davi, don't mind you handling our situation, as you see fit, until my brain recharges, as I was taking the lead the last few days while you were out. :D

I'm back! Sorry about the eleventh hour return, but I had to think long and *damn* hard about that load of nonsense Soroza is shoveling. I'm pretty proud of it, even if my Bluff roll didn't quite back it up.

The formulary in a hospital is basically the list of medications the hospital keeps in stock.
The formulary board is the group of people who decides exactly what medications are on the formulary list.
Basically, I'm presenting some stuff comparing ferumoxytol (not on the formulary) to iron sucrose (on the formulary) to help them decide if its worth it to add ferumoxytol to the formulary or not. tl;dr theyre both used for treating iron deficiency anemia (typically in people with severe kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis), ferumoxytol is interesting because it only takes 30 seconds to administer while iron sucrose takes 15 minutes to administer, so ferumoxytol is obviously more convenient. However it is more expensive and also associated with more allergic reactions.
yadda yadda yadda boring drug stuff no one cares about lol

It sounds much better than my job. I am a policy compliance guy, so basically picture the Bobs from Office Space and you have my lot in life. There is nothing quite as soul crushing as realizing that your job while necessary, is basically a variation of the Spanish Inquisition and a root canal all at once. :)

Thanks GMoL
Digger - it sounds like the sort of job a dwarf would do.
I enjoy my weekly store job since it is so much more relaxing that looking after kids. Part time and I may be in line for a small promotion next month. However we have a major problem with a lift that means the next ten days will be so much harder than normal. No two days are the same which is my kind of work.
Yesterday evening I was sat helping a friend's dyslexic son with his maths (or should I say math). it was his tenth lesson and he is starting to get it. So much so that he moved up a group at school after Easter. Now that felt great for the teacher in me.
So today is my day off and consequently its a list of housework, paperwork and gaming tonight. We hope to reach 15th level in Rise of the Runelords.
How is your hubby, GMoL?
Cheers

Hopefully your GM streamlines the last book for you then, since it's basically a big exploration sandbox!
I ended up simplifying it down to my favorite encounters myself, as my group was experiencing some high level fatigue themselves. Of course, after complaining about high-level gaming they immediately voted for Wrath of the Righteous next. Perhaps I should have saved them from themselves...

We now bring you to Chapter 1 of 'Soroza And Davi Lost In The Woods With Some Jerk They Decided To Be Nice To Also It Is Raining Isn't That Great?'.

In the future, when you move items around, make sure that the excel sheet reflects where things are. I will be stricter in the future about this. I should not be the only person updating it.
Essentially, in the future, if the excel sheet does not reflect that you have something you will not have it.

Hey! Sorry for going dark without warning there for a bit! It was an especially busy Wednesday and my time/thoughts got totally consumed by meatspace.
GM of Liberty |
So I've pretty much hammered out my "main storyline quests" concepts and progression for this group along with my massive adventure hook/quick encounters document. By that I mean I intend for each player to have at least one big apex to their personal storylines at some point in the campaign. These will start happening towards the very end so who even knows if we get that far. I expect things to start wrapping up around level 10 beginning with Davi, then Soroza, then Herral, then Tarkus, then finally Anthony. Never fear though, I'm working very hard to make sure that you will all make progress for things as you scuttle along, and I hope that some of you have already spotted the seeds of those stories already. However I should remind you that you need to meet me halfway. If your characters never make any effort to work towards their goals, then it will make sense that you will not see the fruits of your labor anytime soon.
Right now y'all are being 'railroaded' through Into the Haunted Forest, followed by Hollow's Last Hope. After that the rails ease up and you will be free to do your own thing. Stuff will happen in the world around you, but it will be up to you if you want to get involved. I'm sure the Black Banners will appreciate the extra work ;)
Some other stuff worth noting is that I'm backtracking on my original assumption of keeping it in Andoran the whole time. I've added in the opportunities and framework for you guys to take excursions to the Five Kings Mountains, Cheliax, and Katapesh. It probably won't take much of a stretch of the imagination to figure out why some of you would want to do these things :P I think that changing up the scenery will help break up the monotony of Andoran, which is mostly urban/caves/forest encounters.
Also, I expect to finish off at level 13, not level 12. You can blame Anthony's BBEG for that. He's a big ol meanie.
That being said, I am interested in learning if any of you have read or played in any of the following adventures:
- Literally anything made by Adventure a Week games because they're my go to quick dungeon resource.
- An Alchemist's Errand (Adventure a Week)
- Broken Chains (Paizo Module)
- Castles of the Inner Sea campaign setting.
- Curse of the Full Moon (Adventure a Week)
- Dungeon Issue #75
- Dungeons of Golarion campaign setting
- Forest For The Trees (Adventure a Week)
- Fortress of the Nail (PFS)
- Giantslayer (Paizo Adventure Path)
- Halls of Dwarven Lore (PFS)
- The Mantis' Prey (PFS)
- Tomb of the Iron Medusa (Module)
- Midgard Tales (Kobold Press)
- The Midnight Mauler (PFS)
- Ravenloft: Blood in Moondale
- Shackled City (Paizo 3.5 Adventure Path)
- Ships of the Inner Sea campaign setting
- The Slave Master's Mirror (PFS)
- Slave Ships of Absalom (PFS)
- Streets of Zobeck (Kobold Press)
- Tide of Morning (PFS)
- Tide of Twilight (PFS)
- The Traitor's Lodge (PFS)
- Wrath of the Righteous (Book 3 to be precise)
Obviously...not going to go through ALL of that but there are dungeons/stat blocks/encounters from that material that I plan on using that I won't if you've already done it. :P
French Wolf |
Quite the project you have put together there, GMoL. I have vague memories of Shackled City but that is from just reading so over time I've lost the plot....maybe need to rephrase that.
Giantslayer we are starting in the autumn and I'll be running in three and playing in three. So I'll know that pretty well however I've had to separate player and character knowledge many times before so that shouldn't necessarily stop you here.
Cheers
GM of Liberty |
I expect to use "The Demonskar Legacy" (the extraplanar bit at the very end) to round off Anthony's story.
I expect to reskin the climax of Book 4 of Giantslayer to round off Tarkus' story. Obviously, haven't read that yet, so if I hate it I might not. I don't expect to hate it, though. :)
So shouldn't be too big of a deal.
In any case as long as you can control your metagaming its not a huge deal. I took on Adrac when he had already played most of Hollow's Last Hope after all :P
However if 2-3 of you chime in that you've completed something I plan to work with, or worse, someone says something like "I played Tide of Twilight and it sucked!" then I'll probably just omit that from the campaign.
