WOOD DRAKE SIGHTED!
Rumors of a dragon haunting the southern Narlmarches are probably (hopefully) overstated. The evidence indicates that the source of the rumors is merely a forest drake. In any event, it’s killing folks and needs to be put down. One lone eye witness who lived long enough to return with the tale described it as a lumbering beast with wood and leaves for hide. A reward has been offered by House Kalnath.

IN SEARCH OF TROLL BLOOD!
Upon belief and intent, Myrania the Alchemist seeks Troll's Blood for testing as a catalyst in creation of healing potions. A reward, in potions of the choice of the bringer of this rare substance, will be given by Myrania within 30 days of delivery of the blood. At least one wineskin full of troll's blood required for reward.

ANIMAL ATTACKS! HOWLS OF MADNESS?
Rumor of a wolf like creature have long been heard of in the Kamelands. Stories vary as to whether it is a worg, a dire wolf, or something worse. Bandits and hunters have, for years, told of it's madness inducing howls and blood lust. With the increase of citizens into the Greenbelt, it is necessary to root out this beast to make the citizens safe. A reward for the creature's head is offered by House Malvanna.

SHAMBLING SAP NEEDED!
Myrania the Alchemist requires one small cask of shambling mound sap. This will require a fully grown shambling mound to supply. While the shambling mounds are common in Hecktongue Slough, they are rarer in the Greenbelt. A reward of gold and curative potions is offered for the first group to return with a cask of sap.

The group returns to the glade of the nymph, and find the lumberjacks have finished removing the 'corpses' of the trees they killed.

The nymph is still in the water, and her two thralls are looking the worse for wear, having stood guard for four days now. It appears they've been sleeping in shifts, as one is laying down while the other stands guard.

When the group returns, the nymph calls from the water. "Did you get the tokens?"

Natalie looks a bit amused then speaks: "She is rather pretty, but what is these tokens the watery lady asks of you guys?!?"

She looks around a little bit confused at the scene around the lake, but somehow expects the others to fill her in on what has happened here.
She then puts the letter she is in the process of writing for Svetlana back in her backpack "Guess I will finish this at a later date."

"This is Melianse the nixie whom directed us to the dryad. She had an disagreement with the loggers you see, but agreed to let bygones be bygones if we restored the glen. The Tree Feather Tokens the dryad gifted us should do just that."

Fhârn replies to his companions, then calls out to the nixie.

"You will be pleased to hear that we did indeed manage to secure enough Feather Tokens to replenish your glen. And without annoying the dryad too much, I might add. Uhm. How do you want to do this? Would you like to have the tokens and plant the trees yourself or shall we simply place them where the old ones stood?"

The nixie waves a webbed hand, and the two lumberjacks suddenly shake their heads, and fall over, looking exhausted. "Well, first the lumberjacks should go. Then we can figure out where the new trees go. It all depends on the type of tree she sent." The nixie says, sounding bubbly and happy.

The lumberjack captain glares at the nixie, and retrieves his men. "Stupid fey..." He mutters, collecting his men and putting them on the wagon before leaving. Unless someone stops him.

Stupid fool... But Fhârn neglects to give voice to his comment. No need to antagonize the lumberjacks now when they finally fixed this.

"I think it might be oak, but I'm not sure ..."

Fhârn has nothing to say to the lumberjacks. He might however consider sending Munin to shadow them for a while, to make sure they don't try anything funny!

Wilhelm looks at the departing lumberjacks in askance. Sighing, he addresses the nixie, "Pardon me, Melianse, I would speak to the lumberjacks for a momet." He hails them and spurs Triumph to catch up, "Wait a moment, I would like to guarantee that Bob and Neel -I believe those were their names- are all right. I'd also like to speak with you briefly. Bob, Neel, if you'll allow it, I can cleanse you of your fatigue." Wilhelm waits a moment for their reply.

Use 2x Lay On Hands for fatigue on the pair.

Once the pair are healed (or not), Wilhelm addresses the leader, "You men are back to you and you should be free to go back to your livelihood. I feel it important to emphasize how dangerous this forest is. Everything I've learned in the past days indicates it and it's a foolish man who ignores it. Pick a spot away from any settled fae, man or beast and you should be well. If you encounter trouble, send a messenger to the capitol and we will assist. Your livelihood shouldn't be threatened, but there is a degree of diplomacy required."

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (8) + 13 = 21 Convince him to avoid antagonizing things likely to kill him (and cause us headaches).

After concluding a brief conversation with the lumberjack, Wilhelm returns to the side of the pool and says, "I'm glad to see that you are so happy to see your glade restored. I believe the lumberjacks are gone, if you would like to begin your work. Is there any assistance from us you might require? It's my sincere hope that both human and fae can coexist peacefully. We have been finding things to be... strained... and the cause is ambiguous at best. It would be my greatest pleasure to simply help a neighbor, and friend if you would have it."

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (7) + 13 = 20 Make nice and hopefully entice her to talk.

Bob and Neel agree to be healed, and look better after the lay on hands, although both still look pretty ragged.

The head lumberjack maintains a stiff-necked, red faced, glower throughout Wilhelm's speech, and just jerks his head and juts his jaw out to his fellow lumberjacks to spur them into motion to leave. The entire party looks openly hostile toward Wilhelm.

Perception, DC 20:

"...amned fairy lover... probably getting it from the damn things at night... be damned if I'm going to that arse for help... After this job we're heading over to the other kingdom, I hear they know how to treat trash like that nixie over there..." is muttered as the crew tromps away.

The nixie looks over the tokens. "Ooh, 3 oaks and 3 birches. Hmmm.... three oaks and three birches..." She holds up one then the other, and finally hands one back to the group. "Three oaks and two birches... now, where would oaks go..." She climbs out of the water, and makes her way around the glen, dripping water and wearing only a bit of pond weed in precariously strategic locations. She moves from spot to spot, feeling the wind and looking critically at the glen. "Oaks... oaks... ley lines... energy... flow... balance..." She mutters as she moves around the glen, trying to decide where the new trees go.

Munin's master also gazes after the woodworkers. In a rare moment of keen hearing, he too manages to snap up what they say and groans - a reaction that is only amplified when his raven speaks up.

He shot a quick nod and glance towards the nixie, taking care to not linger too long. Always an interesting experience. But that one seems to be happy at the very least. Returning a grin to Ikit, his tone took a lighter shade. At the very least, some strangers do like us!

"We might as well take a pause now. The glen is tranquil and it would seem only courteous to let Melianse finish up her decorations - at least the preliminary planning - before we go rushing off."

The nixie pauses, and looks at Natalie suspiciously for a moment. "You new, not with them before." She says with certainty. Then nods. "I am attempting to determine where the three oaks and two birches need to be placed to compliment the natural flow of the ley lines. If the trees are not placed correctly, the ley line flow will be disrupted, and the trees will not be healthy and the magic of the glen will be disrupted." She frowns at the cut down trees. "Those people disrupted the magic already, it's curdling. All over the forest, humans disrupt the flow of magic. They awaken things that should sleep, and keep asleep things that should wake."

Nearby a hawk screeches, and the nixie jumps.

Sense Motive DC 20:

The nixie seems a bit guilty, as if she said something she shouldn't.

"Anyway, the oak goes here." She hands the token to Natalie, and then points to a spot on the ground that looks like any other portion fo the glen. "I can't place it, that would interfere with the ley line flow."

The Nixie spends another 40 minutes, handing out tokens to Natalie and Ikit, pointing out where to grow the tree, and then examining the entire glen again, over and over, until the last tree is in place. Finally, she nods happily. "Very good! Ley lines flowing correctly again." She smiles.

Then she turns to Wilhelm, and gives him a measured look, before offering a small bow. "Thank you, Lord William Orlovsky, Chosen of Iomodae, Heir Apparent to the fledgling Kingdom of Domierov." The nixie's voice is oddly melodic, and seems to flow over the glen, filling it completely.

As she looks up, her eyes have gone entirely green, with small green flames dancing in them. "We have heard your words regarding peace, as well as words of insult toward Us. We will forgive you the insult, for it is well known that mortals are largely ignorant." The nixie's face is utterly expresionless as she talks, but there's some amusement in the voice. "There are those who have testified for you, that despite your mortal line, you are not like other humans, and you are trying to co-exist, rather than trample and conquer. You have shown kindness to one of Our wee folk, for which We are pleasantly surprised. Those who's words We have come to trust vouch safe you, and thus We are willing to suspend the Kaevala Myrt within the lands claimed by your fledgling kingdom... for now. Always remember, though, that while mortals may claim the forests and mountains, that there are powers far older than them who actually hold claims far stronger. We have never cared much for mortals claiming Our holdings. Pretending to claim our lands is of no consequence, for We know who really owns them. Thus We see no reason to go to war over such petty things. However, there are mortals who have attacked Our folk, not in self defense, which We understand, but out of fear and ignorance. This We do not tolerate. We are awake now, and We are not pleased with Mortals. We would do more than call the Kaevala Myrt, but killing a rat in a sinking ship is a waste of Our time now. We suggest you tend to yours, and gather power while you can. If you become strong enough, you might protect your people, which would make you a worthy ally. Until then, We can waste no more time with you and your people. We will speak to the forest, and ask it to no longer hamper your way, for now."

Then the nixie blinks, and her eyes are back to normal. Then her skin turns bright green as she blushes, her eyes as wide as saucers. She immediately turns and dives into the water.

A half a minute later, her head resurfaces with a lilypad on her head. "Uhm, thank you. If I see or hear of anything troublesome, I'll send word..." Then she dives down out of sight.

Fhârn stopped his minor quibbling with Munin over the clarity of bird calls as soon as the Nixies voice changed and she started using pluralis majestatis. In rapt attention, he listened. Unless that poor creature dehydrates a lot quicker then plausible, I think we may have Her Emeraldess herself on tap. He watched the nixie until she dove under the surface of the water, then gazed into the pond itself. Only with her comic resurfacing did he snap out of the light trance, with a chuckle. Vivian is going to be *very* jealous...

"Ignorant eh? Certainly not by choice, given all these vague and dire warnings ..." He sighed, then rose to his feet and laughed. "Well, we can only pray that whatever eldritch horror is coming our way stops by and snacks on Varn first. The stomach sickness from all that slime is probably going to keep it occupied for a good while!"

Now in a good mood again, he started collecting his stuff. "It is going to be great to travel without squirrels ambushing us again! Heck, I'll take five pirates in a quick melee anytime over a weeklong nut-barrage!"

With a bemused look he finished up and turned to watch the pool again. "Hmm. Should we leave an address or something?"

Wilhelm watches the Nixie patiently, eventually taking a seat on a nearby stump, as she goes about her examination of the glen. He returns her bow, even as he wonders at the change with her voice. His own eyes widen in surprise as he looks into her now green eyes. He listens raptly, barely daring to breath or blink. Ignorant? I suppose that is better then no forgiveness. And... is this We as a people? The Empress? A sinking ship and us the rat? What on earth does she speak of? Questions upon questions heap themselves in his mind, each seeking to be first, but before he can formulate a questions, Melianse has disappeared. He calls after the ripples in the pond, "You're welcome..."

Running a hand through his beard, Wilhelm turns to the rest of his companions, looking poleaxed, "I suppose it is good we've had a few fae who have been friendly to vouch for us. Without that, that revelation may have taken a darker turn." Fhârn breaks the tension and Wilhelm chuckles, "I imagine they can find us. It seems I came here seeking adventure and glory and I will get it regardless of how much I may want now. I think we've learned all we can from the fae for the time being. Shall we continue our exploration? It would be best to finish it quickly so that we can get back to Zatoksta and share what we've learned."

Keep exploring as one group or go exploring as 2 groups?

Gorruum nods enthusiastically, "Yes. Enough talk. Fae even more confusing than hooms. Quick. Quick is good."

"I believe the centaur issue to be of utmost importance, Lord Wilhelm. Our explorations should lead us to finding them."

Gather power, the Green Queen's proxy had said. Wise advice, that. Anastacia reflects on the whimsical ways of faeries. All double talk, and mystery, with a dose of stating the obvious thrown in, to catch you off guard.

"I think the quicker we can be done in this forest the better, I've had my fill for the moment and I think I soon need to return to Svetlana with what info I got about this forest and the discovery of her nephew's fate!

"I've already broken the news to her. Katlin is staying with her temporarily as well. I think it's helping Svetlana keeping herself distracted with taking care of the girl. Not so sure she's as enthusiastic about it, she shot me a look of death after I recommended it." Rowan laughs softly to himself as he enters the glen.
"How is everyone? I see that we have another newcomer. Greetings."

Is it okay to assume that Rowan brought some spare horses for any more intrepid adventurers that we may come across?

Natalie sighes in relief"That was kind of you Rowan, I hate doing things like that, so I have one less thing to worry about, and will be able to divert my attention fully to the exploration."

Not if he flew back, which he likely did. On the other hand, summoned horses work well.

@Flying with horses - Druids have the pokéball spell, so he should simply be able to carry some with him : )

(Note to self: That spell is useful. Get a copy!)

Gorruum nods at Rowan's news "Good girl safe. Dangerous here for hoom girl." then looks curiously at Anastacia, "Centaur? What is centaur?"

Female Cleric | HP 10/10 | AC 18 T13 F15 | CMD 15/12 | F + 4| R +3 | W +6 | Init +2 | Per +10|

"Centaurs are like people, except they have the four legs and tail of a horse. These are superb archers, I'm told."

Wilhelm nods and replies, "I am agreed that the centaur issue requires significant efforts on our parts, but I'm also concerned with finding where these trolls are so that we can establish an effective watch on them. If they are close to our southern holdings, then it may make much sense to establish the defenses there far more quickly then anything else. I think a split of our party in two is required." Wilhelm thinks for a moment, replying distractedly to Gorruum, "The centaurs are angry with our kind at the moment. The swamp slime in human form, Captain Maegar Varn, is to blame for that. We haven't contacted them yet, but I feel it's only a matter of time."

Finished with his thoughts, Wilhelm says, "I think that we should split into groups as follows. Anastacia, Fhârn, Natalie, Gorrum and I will explore within the forest to the southeast and south along the lake. Dante, Rowan, Felicia, Ikit and Corwen will explore to the east, hoping to contact the centaurs. I hope that having Ikit and Felicia along will make our diplomatic efforts with them somewhat more fruitful. I'd send Gorrum as well, but we will need a tracker familiar with the forest. Have you any thoughts?"

"No matter how things go, I am sure you will see 'horse hooms' sooner or later. Either on a warpath or as diplomats ..." Fhârn grinned and patted Gorruum on the back. He continued and addresses Will's plan. "I agree. We might have to hurry and get working on the Stag Lords old fort - a bastion at the south end of our realm will come in handy against the Trolls as well as the Centaurs, should diplomacy fail on that front!"

Female Cleric | HP 10/10 | AC 18 T13 F15 | CMD 15/12 | F + 4| R +3 | W +6 | Init +2 | Per +10|

Anastacia nods her head in agreement. "Sounds like a fine plan."

Male Human Oracle 3 (Seer)

"Diplomacy seems to have worked more often then not with the beings of these lands, I am hopeful that these centaurs will be open to a peaceful alliance as well. If everyone is agreed, I believe we should make haste and be on our way. These matters may be time sensitive, better to know if we have a troll army sneaking up on our homes in the middle of the night." Shimmer nods to her cousin. "We will bring back news on our neibhors disposition as soon as possible."
